Visit Tenerife: What to know before leaving

If you are packing your bags with dreamy eyes thinking about leaving for Tenerife Island, stop for a moment and take a look at our travel tips!

What’s Tenerife?

Tenerife is a volcanic island, the largest of the Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean. We could define it as the forbidden dream of Charles Darwin, who was fascinated by his numerous endemic species, but who never managed to visit it.

Tenerife is the island of contrasts: there are areas where man is the master with resorts, hotels and nightlife, and areas where nature dominates the landscape. It seems like crossing a temporal passage and find yourself in a parallel dimension! All this in a very short time, since the distance you take to drive the island from north to south is about an hour and a half.

First advice for visiting Tenerife: rent a car to visit the island and move independently. In this way you can reach every point that deserves to be seen!

Practical advices for your stay in Tenerife

First step: choose the right accommodation. For all those who “In the hotel I only sleep, I do not care” trust us, the accommodation in some cases really makes the difference! Hard Rock Hotel in Playa Paraiso is the top!

Typical Hard Rock style, excellent location, excellent food, excellent services both in terms of wellness with gym equipped with innovative items and Spa, both for the attention paid to families with children, with two clubs dedicated according to age. Rock-style rooms, car valet service included in the price, soft animation with live music!

After have slept in a rockstar room and have eaten a breakfast as a king, you can decide what to do: relax at the beach, taking advantage of an always pleasant temperature that is around 25 °C mitigated by the breeze or to discover the hidden jewels of the island!

In case you choose beach life, most of the beaches are black and stony, because of the island volcanic origin. However there are also some golden beaches like Las Teresitas, Los Cristianos, Las Americas, just as example. The beaches are both free and equipped, especially in the south of the island.

Las Americas: surf and chips

Those who love surfing should choose Las Americas, where there are also several dedicated schools. Once over, it’s time to eat and we would share with you a great discovery: a corner of England in Las Americas thanks to Pub, and the unforgettable fish’n chips, crunchy and fragrant, accompanied by a mountain of chips! We still have watering in our mouths!

Also in Las Americas for those who think “what a world would be without an aperitif” there is the Chiringuitos Las Salinas. Order a Papaya mojito and you will not regret it! Well, now put your swimsuit away and equip yourself with hiking boots and ke-way! Departure for the nature reserves!

Nature reserves not to be missed in Tenerife

There are 3 places that you can’t absolutely miss: the Teide National Park, the Anaga Rural Park and Punta De Teno.

Visit Tenerife

  • The Teide National Park, the third highest volcano in the world, included among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, can be visited simply by car, walking along the hiking trails, using the cable car, or reaching the caldera thanks to a special permission. Do not miss the viperina of Tenerife, a plant with particular red flowers that form a cone, an endemic species of the island, taht grows only here!
  • The Rural Park of Anaga is an explosion of vegetation that opens on some beaches, offers a completely different landscape, but so fascinating.
  • Punta De Teno, the western point of the island, dominated by a lighthouse, offers beautiful views of the cliffs of Los Gigantes. Access to cars is regulated and therefore before planning a visit it is always better to check the times and days of access. We advise you to rent an e-bike to reach the lighthouse and ride, almost alone, for about 6 km along the windy road. Important: the return is all uphill!!

The island of Tenerife surprised us, giving us more than we expected from her. We took another step seraching for happiness.
